Ford vs Ferrari (2019) is about, in simplistic terms, Ford company creating the fastest race car and beating out Ferrari. It follows the main character, Ken Miles (Christian Bale) and his personal struggles with himself and racing. It has well known supporting actors Matt Damon (Carroll Shelby) and Caitriona Balfe (Mollie Miles) to name a few.
In all honestly, I simply didn’t enjoy this film as much as I anticipated. It was quite long, 2 hours and 32 minutes exact. The time did not fly by. Additionally, it had a slow start and a lot of boring dialogue.
I felt like the entire movie was either a racing scene or dialogue about racing. Which, you may be thinking, is the whole point. But I didn’t feel a lot of depth from the movie aside from the main character, Ken Miles.
I would say this movie is for car lovers. If you aren’t, then it might not be very entertaining. Many characters lacked depth. I was most excited to see Caitriona Balfe on screen, who has showed that she can hold her own in roles in various tv shows and film. During the majority of the film, she is seen only worrying by the phone or television over her husband. Balfe has only one scene where her characters personality shines – using a regular road as a racetrack in their station wagon while trying to pry the truth out of her husband. Bleh.
I cannot stress this enough – the movie and its dialogue all leads up to racing scenes. Very, very long racing scenes. On the bright side, it has beautiful cinematography!
Pros: It gives a nostalgic feel and is a genuine piece of film.
Cons: Too long and not enough depth.
Rating: 4/10 (yikes)
“Where can I find this movie?” It can be streamed on various platforms.
Bonus: You may love it! I acknowledge that I am apart of the minority that didn’t particularly enjoy the film.
This is a solid review. I thought the racing scenes were shot really well, but it was too long for what it was. Apparently, I stopped watching too early anyway and didn’t catch the full ending.

This was a great review. It sounds like a movie I wouldn’t particularly want to watch from the sound of your review. Thanks for the heads up!

I am not a car lover so I feel like I wouldn’t like this movie. Although I still might give it a try.

I like cars so there is hope that I might enjoy the movie, but 2 and a half hours of solid racing and race talk seems to be a bit much.

2 and a half hours is a long time for a movie, especially when it is about a topic that you aren’t really interested in.
