Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of one Harley Quinn) is a a stand-alone film of a character introduced in DC Universe’s Suicide Squad (2016). Her film starts post break-up with her longtime boyfriend, The Joker. She has to adapt to life apart from him and without his protection in Gotham City, which proves to be harder and more dangerous than she imagined.
Harley Quinn (HQ) is an eccentric character. Naturally, the movie will feel the same since she is narrating it. The script is witty and the action scenes are phenomenal. The leading ladies had great performances, but Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn) stole the show. Which isn’t a bad thing, she’s just brilliant.
The movie bounces back and forth between time as HQ narrates it. It works for the movie, as it’s still easy to follow along. There are some strange animations and one musical number but that flows with her somewhat ~wild~ mind.
If you are wary of seeing this movie, I would go ahead and give it a chance! I know that Suicide Squad may have put a bad taste in your mouth, and the DC Universe the same. But this feels less cheesy and better quality through and through.
Pros: It’s a fun movie with thrill the entire way through. Very entertaining and will not disappoint!
Cons: Some of the fighting scenes are a bit unrealistic. While HQ and her gang were some tough and talented protagonists, it seemed that they were never touched by their foes. Like- not hit even once.
Rating: 9/10

I love funny movies. Since there is humor in this one I am willing to give it a try

I heard the villain wasn’t all that great either. But I’m glad this was step up from ‘Suicide Squad’. I was wary about seeing it but now I think I’ll at least give it a try!

I actually had professor offer us extra credit if we went to see this movie, but DC’s movies have continually left me unimpressed. After reading this though, I’d be willing to give this movie a try.
