Little Women (2019)

Trailer

Little Women (2019) is an adaption to the book written by Louisa May Alcott. It’s a beloved tale that has been told time and time again, yet each film is very different from another.

This movie details of sisterhood and the trials and tribulations that follow. It surrounds itself around the character Jo March and her three other sisters. The story is from Jo’s perspective as she submitting a short story (which happens to be the movie) to a condescending male publisher. Because of his rather annoyingly constructive feedback, Jo struggles to tell her story while pleasing him, and the story proceeds.

It’s a fast pace film that teeters back and forth between the past and present. Each sisters personality shines through and often times, clash and flow between the others. The movie shows fantastic character development. I am certain you’ll be moved by the story and invested in each of the four sisters.

Greta Gerwig, the the director, masterfully conducted a film of humor and shows a woman’s modern perspective on society’s oppressive normatives during those times. While the story is vintage, the new movie carries a contemporary energy that feels relatable to modern times.

Pros: It’s a feel good movie that will make you laugh, cry, and feel all of the emotions.

Cons: N/A

Rating: 10/10

“Where can I find this movie?” In theaters.

Bonus – favorite quote: “Women, they have minds and they have souls as well as just hearts. And they’ve got ambition and they’ve got talent as well as just beauty. I am so sick of people saying that love is just all a woman is fit for. I’m so sick of it.”
